There are a thousand of English names. why did they had to choose the name Mayday for one of the Northern Exposure characters´

Well, because Mayday plays in the Red Baron band. and because the music it´s one of the themes within the Northern stories characters.

It´s like a picnic of dialogues. The basic words, the family and friends, are here in Alaska. Basically it´s it. The radio, the dialogues, The little things at the scenarios, The record´s lyrics base, the characters and people of that time.
